Cain grew & became a tiller, who worked the soil. But when Cain brought an offering of fruit from the ground & his younger brother Abel brought of the firstborn of his flock & of their fat, the Lord respected Abel’s offering but he did not respect Cain’s offering.

Following God’s response, Cain’s own response has dire consequences for Abel, his parents, & ultimately for himself…
