The portrayal of the life of Abraham retold in stunning CGI animation in The Kids Bible Company production of “The Animated Kid’s Bible,” Episode Four: “Rain Of Fire,” (available on DVD) highlights an unwavering premise of sovereign blessing and cursing found throughout the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

“May the Most High God who made heaven & earth give special favour to Abram!” proclaimed the High Priest to Abraham.

Is there a premise that is any closer to the heart of man than the theme of desiring a prosperous life? According to the scriptures, it is not found outside a true relationship with the Creator.

The words of Deuteronomy 30:15, 16 may well resonate the very heart and intent of our Maker that we would find that place of life and well-being:

“Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster. For I command you this day to love the Lord your God and to keep his commands, decrees, and regulations by walking in his ways. If you do this, you will live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you and the land you are about to enter and occupy.”

Deuteronomy 30:15, 16 (New Living.) The abundant life is available. It is a God-initiative. Yet it is clearly a choice that is left for us to make. But it is not found outside of a life without the God of the Bible.

“But if your heart turns away and you refuse to listen, and if you are drawn away to serve and worship other gods, then I warn you now that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live a long, good life in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy.”

Deuteronomy 30:17, 18 (New Living.) This premise is reflected again in the New Testament in the words of Jesus Christ:

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
John 10:10 (New American Standard) And this from the Apostle Paul in the Book of Romans:

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 8:11 (New King James)
