Abram / Abraham was a direct descendant of Shem, son of Noah.

Appearing as ‘Abram,’ up until God’s confirming His *covenant with him, God then changed his name from Abram (‘father’) to ‘Abraham,’ (‘father of many.’)

God called Abraham out of his home country giving him two boundless promises: to make him a great nation, bless him, make his name great, make him a blessing, bless those who blessed him, & curse those who cursed him; also that all the people on earth would be blessed through him!
