Noah Bible Story for Kids

The story of Noah is one of the most famous Bible stories for kids. It comes from the Book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible.

After Adam and Eve and their children lived on the earth, many people forgot about God. People began to do wrong things, and the world became full of sin.

God saw that the people were not living the way He wanted.

But there was one man who loved God and tried to do what was right.

His name was Noah.

God Chooses Noah

Noah was a good man who trusted God.

God spoke to Noah and told him that He was going to send a great flood to clean the earth from evil.

God told Noah to build a very large boat called an ark.

The ark would keep Noah, his family, and the animals safe.

God gave Noah exact instructions for how to build the ark.

The ark had to be very big, strong, and able to float on the water.

Noah obeyed God even though the job was very hard.

Building the Ark

Noah worked for a long time building the ark.

People saw Noah building the huge boat, but they did not believe him.

They laughed at him and did not listen when he warned them.

Noah kept working because he trusted God.

When the ark was finished, God told Noah to bring animals inside.

Animals Enter the Ark

God sent the animals to Noah.

Two of every kind of animal came to the ark.

  • two lions
  • two birds
  • two sheep
  • two dogs
  • two of every creature

God also told Noah to take extra animals for food and offerings.

Noah, his wife, his sons, and their wives all went into the ark.

Then God closed the door.

The Great Flood

Rain began to fall.

It rained for many days and nights.

Water covered the land, the hills, and even the mountains.

The ark floated safely on the water.

Everyone inside the ark was protected because Noah obeyed God.

The flood lasted a long time, but God did not forget Noah.

The Water Goes Down

After many days, the rain stopped.

Slowly the water began to go down.

The ark came to rest on a mountain.

Noah sent out a bird to see if the land was dry.

Finally, the bird returned with a leaf.

That meant plants were growing again.

Soon the earth was dry.

God told Noah it was safe to leave the ark.

God’s Promise

When Noah came out of the ark, he thanked God.

God made a promise to Noah.

God said He would never again destroy the whole earth with a flood.

Then God put a rainbow in the sky.

The rainbow was a sign of His promise.

Every time we see a rainbow, we can remember that God keeps His promises.
