Job’s Happy Life
Once upon a time, in a place called Uz, there was a man named Job. he was a kind and good man who loved God with all his heart. He always tried to do the right thing and stayed far away from anything wrong. Because he loved God so much, his life was full of blessings!
He had a big, happy family with seven sons and three daughters. He was also very rich, with thousands of sheep, camels, oxen, and donkeys. he was so well-loved that people called him the greatest man in the East!
Every day, he prayed to God and even made special sacrifices to keep his family close to God. he loved God, and God loved him.
A Sneaky Plan
One day, something surprising happened. Satan, who is always trying to cause trouble, came to talk to God. God said, “Have you seen my servant Job? He is a good man who loves me and does what is right.”
But Satan had a sneaky idea. He said, “he only loves You because You’ve given him so much. Take away everything he has, and he will stop loving You.”
God knew Job’s heart and trusted him. So God allowed Satan to test him, but He told Satan he couldn’t hurt Job himself.
A Very Hard Day
All of a sudden, his life changed. On one terrible day, messengers came running to him with bad news. Raiders had stolen his oxen and donkeys. Lightning had struck his sheep and shepherds. Another group of raiders took his camels. Worst of all, a strong wind knocked down the house where his children were, and they were all killed.
he was very, very sad. Can you imagine losing everything you love all at once? But instead of getting angry, Job fell to the ground and prayed. He said:
“The Lord gave me everything, and the Lord has taken it away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.”
More Trouble
Satan wasn’t done yet. He went back to God and said, “If his body gets hurt, he will stop loving You.”
God allowed Satan to test Job again but told him not to take his life. Soon, he was covered in painful sores from head to toe. He was so uncomfortable that he sat on a pile of ashes and used a broken piece of pottery to scratch his skin.
Even his wife said, “Why don’t you just curse God and give up?” But he replied, “Should we only accept good things from God and not bad things too?”
Job’s Friends
Job had three friends who came to visit him. They sat with Job in silence for seven days because they didn’t know what to say. But when they finally spoke, they said things that hurt Job’s feelings. They thought Job must have done something wrong to deserve such terrible things. But Job knew he hadn’t done anything wrong.
Job prayed to God and asked many questions. He didn’t understand why all these bad things were happening. But even when Job was confused and sad, he never stopped trusting God.
God Speaks
Finally, God answered Job. He spoke to Job out of a mighty whirlwind and asked him lots of big questions:
“Where were you when I created the earth? Can you make the sun rise or tell the oceans where to stop?”
Through these questions, God reminded Job that He is all-powerful and knows everything. Job realized that God’s plans are too big for people to fully understand. Job trusted God even more and said, “I know that You can do all things. I will trust You.”
A Happy Ending
God was very pleased with him because he stayed faithful. God told his friends they were wrong and asked him to pray for them. Then, God blessed him even more than before! He gave him double the animals he had lost, and he had seven more sons and three more daughters. he lived a long and happy life, always trusting in God.
